INSPIRED BY A LEGENDARY COMPANION
This delicious whisky liqueur is our new liqueur made from real single malt whisky. Its sweet aromas of vanilla, cinnamon and coconut will delight not only ladies.
Kolonat - that was the name of the faithful companion of the legendary St. Kilian, who gave his name to our whisky distillery. Like its historical role model, our KOLONAT'S CHOICE LIQUEUR brings a piece of the Irish way of life to us - with genuine St. Kilian single malt whisky.
Every well-known spirit brand has a so-called "signature drink". This should first and foremost fit the character of the product and be a "figurehead" for the spirit. Ideally, the drink should be easy to mix, have potential for the future and have a catchy name that can be used internationally. It should not be a mere fad and of course the drink must first and foremost taste good!
However, our signature drink is not intended to be a purely alcoholic drink, but a highball that contains a larger proportion of non-alcoholic ingredients, so-called fillers, in addition to the base spirit. For this, we use ginger ale, a ginger lemonade that contains no alcohol and gives the drink a rather sweet ginger flavour and a pleasant freshness.
At St. Kilian, we opted for a mixture of the well-known classic "Rusty Nail Cocktail" and a "Highball". First of all, learn about the history of the Rusty Nail here:
Rusty Nail Cocktail
This drink is one of the best-known classics from the category of "Scotch cocktails" . Impressively simple with only two ingredients , it seems inconspicuous at first, but when consumed, it unfolds its full flavour and is a lot of fun in the glass.
How can a plain "two-piece" be so appealing?
Let's take a closer look at its ingredients:
Drambuie - Scottish Liqueur
The most famous Scotch liqueur with a long tradition and a history that goes back to the middle of the 18th century. The blend of herbs, scotch and honey comes across as extremely spicy and with great depth and has already convinced royal connoisseurs.
Blended Scotch
Here, the scope is already much greater than with the first ingredient and in the course of history, the whole spectrum of blends has certainly already been used. In the 1930s, it was shaken with 3 parts Vat 69 and one part Drambuie with a dash of Angostura. It was penned by F. Benniman who was an early president of the United Kingdom Bartenders Guild shortly after Prohibition . The mixture of Scotch and honey whisky liqueur started its triumphal march around the globe in England and every good bartender appreciates it and gives it the perfect taste with "his" whisky.
